The above is the simple sentiment which kluster was founded upon….   being able to harness the collaborative power of a large group in order to get real stuff done & made.

Today, we’re excited to see the first product (that we know of) that went through the kluster platform for at least part of it’s development launch worldwide.

We launched Kluster about 13 months ago, and one of the first projects that went up there was the naming of an internet radio.    Countless people poured their names, and comments into the project and within just a few days we had collectively come to the consensus that “Livio” was where it was at.

This little project early on not only affirmed our belief in kluster’s platform and process, but also the power of you guys as a community.  (oh, and it may or may not have been the root of the idea for our beloved namethis.com)

Today, the Livio launches as the first and only internet radio box with dedicated support for Pandora– oh, and their sexy little thumbs up/thumbs down control.

Did I mention it’s beautiful?

livio

Congratulations to Jake & the Livio Team on a remarkable job, and a huge thanks on behalf of the kluster world for letting us have a part.   maybe some of you want to buy one?

Anyhow, in the coming weeks we hope to have many other exciting stories to tell of a product or project going full circle through our platform.     That and— we intend to go back to our roots with a new lab project, dedicated to bringing peoples product ideas… you guessed it-  out of heads, and onto shelves.

Thats all for now… sound off in the comments if you know of other products/projects/companies that have taken the moniker that we bestowed upon it.

Well Done,

ben

That’s really cool ben! I remember contributing to that project. That’s success. Glad to see you getting back to your roots; I always thought that the original kluster.com was a great product idea that just needed some more development.

I’d like to see more community, collaboration, and more of a collective spirit at namethis. I see these words used to describe how namethis works, but maybe I’m just too old for this group and technology has redefined what community and collaboration mean. For me, communication is key to collaboration, community, and collectivism. I don’t feel like I have any idea what’s going on at namethis, nor do I feel part of a group(community.) I don’t think a blog post once a month or so from some mysterious someone connects me to this venture. I think a good start might be a members only message board. Do others feel a part of a community or a collective and collaborative enterprise?

    @John R
John, We can get a feel for the answer to your question by the number of responses to your post.

  • John R on April 23rd, 2009:

I think the folks at namethis are only familiar with “community” and “collaboration” as trendy buzzwords or as a remembered lesson from business management 101. A collaborative community requires mutually exchanging ideas and maintaining intellectual interaction. It involves parties who see different aspects of a problem. They engage in a process through which they constructively explore their differences and search for (and implement) solutions that go beyond their own limited vision of what is possible. Once individuals link together they become something different . Relationships change us, reveal us, evoke more from us. Only when we join with others do our gifts become visible, even to ourselves. As long as all authority is vested in a few individuals, no collaboration is possible.

Knock Knock…. anyone home? Sent an email last week about not being able to load my card and there’s been no reply. Anyone have 2 second to fix?

  • Stacy Prince on May 14th, 2009:

    Smooth card load; thanks.

I managed to vote more than 30 times again. It seems to be related to giving votes to an entry, then removing them, then refreshing the page. The (in the end) not-voted-for entry will still show up in the “Your Picks:” list. And sometimes the bug happens. Maybe it is related.
I am using Opera. Cannot help you further, I tried finding the culprit earlier with no luck.
