Taking A Break

by ben - August 28th, 2009

Namethis is taking a break.

You can still log into your accounts and keep tabs on your winnings.  We anticipate we will have a plan, or at least an answer regarding payments very shortly.    We have a number of people who have expressed interest in helping to resolve the current issues, and we intend to explore those options in the current days and report back.

We really do hope that namethis will be back in action quite soon.   We know it has the potential to be stable, useful product which provides alternate sources of income to our community, as well as a killer product to our clients.

Until Then–  I’ll keep you posted.

Update 2pm EST:  There appears to be a bug when logging in to namethis for the first time, and then it goes away when you try the second time… we are fixing.  In the meantime you can go to kluster and hit the login to legacy acct button.

Update 2:15pm EST:  All set on the login issues…  By the way, the two namethis projects that remain active will go through completion, future projects will not be able to be created until we re-activate.

I’m sad, hope you’ll come back very shortly.

  • Alan on August 28th, 2009:

I also hope things are up and running soon. I added $325 to my account total today in the rush of project awards, and I cant help but find it ironic that I have my most profitable day on this site the same day it goes on hiatus.

Anyway, I hope Ill be able to get at the pretty nice chunk of cash Ive accumulated in the last few months sooner than later. Believe me when I say, that money is already spent.

Already seen an improvement, nice jobs ! This way, the not so qualified name can be discharge

  • Igal on August 28th, 2009:

Why were the projects’ comments and the link to the blog removed?

  • Alan on September 23rd, 2009:

So, any word on anything? Payments, card load cap lifts, NameThis reopening for business? Even a less than favorable update is an update…

  • hannes on September 29th, 2009:

4 weeks went by, what is the status?

  • Allison Reynolds on October 1st, 2009:

The comments on the Quirky blog give at least a hint of what is going on http://aquirkyblog.com/2009/09/new-and-improved-payment-system/ . Don’t hold your breath basically.

  • Martin Möhwald on October 5th, 2009:

I would like to hear some news on NameThis.

Please “keep us posted” as stated.

  • Chris on October 8th, 2009:

I am sorry to hear that NameThis.com is gone, it was a very cool site. For anyone interested though my company http://www.freshlybranded.com holds naming contests as well as slogans, logos, and other marketing type projects.

  • Alan on October 15th, 2009:

C’mon now, it has been more than a month and a half, and the only “update” given has been a few ominous sentences over at the quirky blog (why an update for our situation would be posted on a blog for a company that has nothing to do with us is beyond me). That post listing your HQ address was deleted, so there is clearly someone capable of updating us coming here.

I would love to put that 700 bean in my account into my pocket, but if you simply have no means of paying us, would you just say something so that we dont waste our time waiting for money that may never come, or at least, wont be coming for a long time? The continued silence here is deafening, and it speaks more to our situation than anything.

  • Marky on October 16th, 2009:

There is a namethis Pay Issues Yahoo group at:

    http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/namethis_pay_issues/

I’m the one that posted the address where Ben is doing business. While it may be impractical to use the legal system to pressure him into paying the money he owes “community” members, there are other ways to put pressure on unscrupulous business people. One of the best ways is by bad publicity. If some of the folks who are owed money would care to meet at this Yahoo group, we may be able to do more than moan and groan and beg.

  • Tom on October 21st, 2009:

Time to pay us our rewards.

  • dsfasf on October 22nd, 2009:

Let’s start bugging Ben by commenting on the namethis payment issue on http://aquirkyblog.com/ since that seems to be the only blog he reads now.

  • Alan on October 28th, 2009:

So, five months or so since payments stopped, and two months since an update. Is Namethis dead in the water or what?
